Quality of Life Publishing Co. specializes in books and
newsletters that help ease the way for patients and families dealing with
terminal illness and loss. Our gentle grief support books and booklets
bring much-needed comfort to anyone grieving the loss of someone dear.
Our national physician outreach newsletter, Quality of Life Matters®, is in its ninth year of publication and is distributed by hundreds of hospices across the U.S. At the request of palliative care professionals in Canada, a Canadian version of Quality of Life Matters was launched fall 2005.
Our gentle grief support books and booklets are considered "must have" resources by grief professionals in hospices, hospitals, churches, schools, funeral homes, and other outreach organizations.
Quality of Life Publishing Co. is a direct outgrowth of our founder’s personal and professional hospice experience. Karla Wheeler has been a hospice volunteer for 15 years, and five members of her immediate family have been blessed by hospice and palliative care in the U.S. and Canada: Her grandmother in 1987, father and father-in-law in 1998, her mother in 2004, and most recently her husband in late 2006.
A former newspaper reporter and editor, Karla had been involved in many medical publishing projects and decided to launch Quality of Life Matters in 1999 after her beloved father was enrolled in hospice for only seven days. Karla was determined to find a way to help hospices educate physicians about the urgent need for earlier referrals.
Karla and the entire team at Quality of Life Publishing are dedicated to bringing to the marketplace any publications that will help dying patients and their families. As Karla notes, "Grief and loss unite all of humanity. Even with all the modern medical advances of recent decades, the mortality rate on our planet remains unchanged: It's still one per person." Karla finds it a privilege to lead the editorial team at Quality of Life Publishing Co.

Quality of
